It was one of those years where the activity on the Red Carpet outshined the activity in the auditorium. Honestly, we've never been quite so bored during an Oscar broadcast. We almost feel a little silly having friends over, or worrying about that whole Cablevision versus Disney thing.
But, you'll hear about the highs and (many) lows of the actual ceremony in our full review. Here's where we, like a whole bunch of other people,...

Wednesday Night TV Recap [03.03.10]Ghost Hunters Episode 6.01 "Alcatraz Island"So last Wednesday night I checked out the live Ghost Hunters season 6 premiere of their 100th episode on Syfy, and the series premiere of The Parenthood on NBC. This made for an interesting mix of entertainment, constituting a break from my regular Wednesday programming. Mainly because I attended the live taping of the Ghost Hunters event, hosted by Destination Truth's Josh Gates.
I've never really taken...

Both sides fight over $40 million in fees, annoying cable customers with their antics.
We freely admit to having a split second
of anxiety over the news that WABC-TV might go dark March 7. Only
because we're making a lot of food for an Oscar party this year, and if
we don't get the channel we're screwed.

The.White.StripesHey now. Sooo, don't know about you people, but our insides are scrambled from anticipation of this thing. Set to drop March 16, right around SXSW time, the collection titled for the critically acclaimed rock-u-mentary Under Great White Northern Lights features some beyond awesome shit.

Switching gears, London-based band Scanners has let out another single, "We Never Close Our Eyes", right before preparing for the release of their new album next week. Submarine is due out on the 16th, and this is the second piece of the puzzle emerging.

Brooklyn-based, chamber-rock trio Rasputina just dropped back into our laps. They've announced the upcoming release of their seventh music child, Sister Kinderhook, which was produced by lead vocalist/cellist Melora Creager. Their last release, 2007's Oh Perilous World, is one of our favorites.
We seriously dig on Creager's sharp lyrics and vocals, and the cacophony of instruments that collide and swell playfully around her. Feels like being on a playground trolling with slightly aloof adults. The...

Yep, that 80s classic "We Are The World" turned 25 in January. To celebrate, its creators gave it a star-studded, somewhat awkward birthday celebration to benefit Haiti.
But, before we get into what is essentially a interpretative breakdown of the historic occurrence that took place on February 1, we'll just go ahead and reassure everyone that we're very aware of the fact that this thing was done in the name of charitable giving.
The situation...

Temple Grandin mostly feels like a pretty standard TV biopic, this one about a woman who was diagnosed with autism back in the good old days when institutionalization was the only option available for distraught parents. Despite her autism -- or actually, because of it -- she went on to earn a Ph.D. in animal sciences, become a professor at Colorado State University, and write two New York Times bestsellers.
This chick's life oozes that...

nfllogoWell, last night's Super Bowl was as I personally predicted. It was a low-scoring, tight game ... until ... the Saints came marching in. In the fourth quarter, with Indy up 17 to 16, the Saints scored on a pass from Drew Brees to Jeremy Shockey. They then went for a two-point conversion. After it was called no good, and the challenge flag was thrown by head...

ProBowl2010In a Pro Bowl that went tit for tat in all four quarters, the AFC went ahead for good when Houston Q.B.Matt Schaub (who started the game) went back in the game in the 4th to assist in the win. Chris Johnson, R.B. for the Titans, scored on a two-yard scamper with 6:03 left in the 4th, and the NFC couldn't score to tie it up.
Following two long incomplete passes, Cowboy Q.B. Tony Romo showed...
