Be ready to completely enjoy this fresh submission from No More Kings' self-titled album. This band, lead by Pete Mitchell, has created an amazing album that will have you reliving the sounds, and some of the finer moments, of the 80's. The combination of familiar phrases and sounds, tweaked and brought to today's music front, is brilliant. "Sweep the Leg", has everyone talking, and with good reason. Pete and crew have done an excellent job of reversing the psychology of that climatic, sudden death round between Daniel and Johnny in the Karate Kid. Many will remember feeling the anguish of Daniel when Johnny injured him. If you admit it, you weren't too fond of Johnny, were you? Now, concentrate on the lyrics that Pete has laid down for us. You will see through the eyes of Johnny and how he struggled with what was happening. No More Kings presents this side so well that you may begin to feel sorry for Johnny, even if only for a moment. Comedic expression resonates in the songs offered on this album, and seem to be no problem for No More Kings. "God Breathed" and "Mr. Bee" give the listener a humorous view of the creation of Adam and a picture of being love-struck, from the perspective of the bee. These funky numbers are sure to get those toes tapping, heads bobbing, and smiles appearing on your face. Simple, fun, feel good music! The anthem of "Umbrella" shows the depth of the musical talent of No More Kings. The mixture of the percussion, bass, and drums, starting out softly, transforming to a quicker, rock beat, and then back again—it is flawless. Within this song, the lyrics convey that life is life and we just have to meet it head on and deal with it as best as we can. Things would be so boring if there were not challenges for us to encounter. No More Kings gives the listener a wonderful, well-rounded compilation of lyrics, sounds, and rhythms. EXCELLENT!
