Is it really true? Will we be able to now have our very own Android Pay app so we can pay for everything similarly to the Apple Pay? According to photos distributed to several McDonald’s restaurants, we might have it as soon as this Wednesday, August 26! Or will it?
Photos were obtained by Android Police that inform McDonald’s managers and crew members on what mobile payments are and how to accept them.
“This month, customers will be able to start using Samsung and Android mobile devices to pay for their orders,” reads one notification sent out to McDonald’s staff.
Another photo was posted to reddit by the user BlackMartian who claims it corroborates Android Pay’s launch for later this week:
These photos also reveal participating Android Pay partners will also begin receiving decals to affix to point-of-sale terminals (POS) to inform customers they can pay with their phones.
The official launch date for Android Pay has not been confirmed by Google however.
Posted online photos aside, Samsung Pay, which is Samsung’s mobile payment system that works with both NFC and MST (the same magnetic swiping technology used by credit cards), will launch on September 28.
Will Android Pay really launch this week — in just a few short days?? Don’t hold your breath.
