Norwegian electro-pop group Casiokids just won a 1 million kroner (approx. $160,000) talent grant on July 14 funded by legendary Norwegian pop band a-ha. Â The competition was voted on by fans and set up to award four of Norway's most promising up-and-coming artists with the funds necessary to continue their international careers. Casiokids also received 1 million in advertising from VG (Norway's biggest daily newspaper) and the chance to open for a-ha on one of their huge farewell tour shows in August. Casiokids will support them in Bergen at an already sold-out show in front of 20,000 people on August 28th. Â Due to this performance, the band will have to cancel the last four shows on their planned North American tour in August, with the last show on the tour now being in Detroit on the 26th. Casiokids will be back in the USA in October for the Culture Collide festival arranged by Filter Magazine in LA, and plan to play in New York and some long awaited South American shows at the same time.
Look out for Casiokids' digital single for "En Vill Hest",  coming out on August 17 (Polyvinyl). The single features the album version of the track, remixes by both diskJokke and Prins Thomas and a music video. Topp stemning på lokal bar is out now in the US.
