Cop Out, a Nutty Buddy Film

Review Info

Actors Tracy MorganBruce Willis
Genre ComedyActionCrime
The film Cop Out has so many things going for it, including an hilarious script, a strong cast, and a director who knows how to make their actors give their all.  I really enjoyed the film, and those that like a little slapstick combined with situation comedy should be commenting about it for days.  Although the film is skewed for a male audience, women can enjoy it just as much.

Tooth Fairy, a Comedy with Teeth

Review Info

Actors Dwayne JohnsonAshley JuddJulie AndrewsStephen Merchant
Genre FamilyComedyRomanceSports
I am a family film lover at heart, and when they are produced well, like Tooth Fairy, I recommend them highly. The movie has a wonderful message for children who endeavor to realize their dreams and use their imagination. And although it gets a little silly, this film has a lot of good laughs, especially seeing The Rock in a tutu.

Actors Steve MartinAlec BaldwinMeryl Streep
Genre ComedyRomance
There’s a very cool date film in town starring a fine cast, coupled with very good direction.  It’s called It’s Complicated, and the funny storyline sticks to its title.  If you like your romance with handfuls of comedy, then It’s Complicated is a no-brainer for you.

Up in the Air Flies High

Review Info

Actors Vera FarmigaGeorge ClooneyAnna Kendrick
Genre ComedyDramaRomance
Film stars like George Clooney are at their best in movies like Up In The Air, where they can show their dramatic ability in portraying an interesting character.  I enjoyed the new Jason Reitman film, just as much as his Oscar-nominated Juno.  Take a flight with Up In The Air, and you’ll enjoy the bumps and jolts of this modern-day story.

The Men Who Stare at Goats - Nonsense

Review Info

Actors Kevin SpaceyGeorge ClooneyEwan McGregorJeff Bridges
Genre Comedy
Although I am a big fan of George Clooney, not all of his films work for me.  This is the case of The Men Who Stare At Goats.  While some may call the film creative genius, to me this film is uncreative nonsense.  If you love films where the writer lets his imagination run wild, then you may get more out of the film than me.  Warning: The makers of the film chose to put...

Good Hair Has No Split Ends

Review Info

Genre ComedyDocumentary
There's a lot of documentaries at theaters these days, but how about a comical one that’s enjoyable?  What about one called Good Hair?  Actually, who would have thought that hair is funny?  Well Chris Rock shows how funny it could be in this hilarious doc on women keeping it cool with extensions and sodium hydroxide.

A Serious Man is Coen Funny

Review Info

Written By Joel & Ethan Coen
Actors Michael StuhlbargAdam Arkin
Genre ComedyDrama
If you think you have troubles, then go to the movies and see A Serious Man.  I found myself laughing during most of the film and even at the wrong time.  Filled with all the things you would not want to happen to you, it becomes an outlet to make you feel better about yourself. Extremely good acting, a presentation by the Coen brothers and a cool look at the early 60s -- what...

Where the Wild Things Are

Review Info

Actors Max RecordsCatherine KeenerChris Cooper
Genre FamilyComedyAdventureFantasyChildren's (8-12yrs)
This child’s book transfers nicely to the screen with embellishments that make it fun to watch. Filled with lessons to be learned and reaffirmed, this film is great for the whole family.  Even though it may be a little scary for the young tots, Where The Wild Things Are can be entertaining, and a great teaching tool as well.

The Invention of Lying Challenges the Beauty of Truth

Review Info

Written By Ricky GervaisMatthew Robinson
Actors Ricky GervaisJennifer Garner
Genre Comedy
The Invention of Lying is written and directed by Ricky Gervais and Matthew Robinson. The film is set in an alternate reality in which no one has ever lied. That includes the most unlikely people (politicians, advertisers) and the most unlikely of situations (at work, on a date, on the street).

All About Steve

Review Info

Actors Bradley CooperSandra Bullock
Genre ComedyRomance
The movie All About Steve can be summed up with a quick quip -- It’s “Sandra Bullock on Acid.”  The movie starts out with an absolutely great beginning that had me laughing at every turn, but midway though the film Bullock’s character becomes very annoying and the film spirals downward to its barely credible and predictable ending.  It’s one of those movies they should charge half the price for.
