The fifth Predator film has come to town, and this one goes all out to please the action junkie.  Predators slides in at second best of the series, just below the original.  The actors, direction and cinematography are all in sync, and the simple storyline does entertain.  If you are looking to see copious amounts of gratuitous violence then search out the movie Predators, it’s a non-stop blood bath.

What shows as a creature horror flick in the trailers on TV and in movie theatres for the film Splice, turns out to be more of a suspense-filled, sci-fi drama with disturbing elements.  The movie is actually very good in a curious kind of way. For all you science fiction lovers who enjoy films with a ‘what if’ theme, this has your name written all over it.

There will be no stopping the power of Iron Man 2 with all the media hype, great trailers and television spots leading the way to a box-office winner.  Having seen the film, I can say that for comic book enthusiasts, sci-fi superhero fanatics and high-powered action lovers, your expectations will be fulfilled. An all around great cast, a strange but fascinating story, fine direction and innovative cinematography, make The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus an entertaining film.  For those who like their films bizarre and captivating, this is your chance to fantasize.

Powerful, amazing, entertaining and involving describes the way I feel about James Cameron’s Avatar, a film that’s a treat for sci-fi fans and action junkies around the world.  It’s the blockbuster of the year and should outpace anything that has hit theatre screens in 3D.  If you see one film this year in 3D, make it Avatar.

Think desolation, wasteland and survival when you go to see The Road.  The film is brilliantly directed, acted and photographed, showing the dreary side of the closing stages of civilization.  I liked the taught drama and what-if storyline in this purposely depressing film.

There have been many disaster movies throughout the years, but none as brilliantly depicted as 2012.  Whether the storyline is plausible or not, 2012 provides a nearly three-hour breathtaking roller coaster ride.  The film integrates a number of catastrophic events, including earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, ash storms and many more, into a heart-pounding realistic movie of seismic proportions.  If you see one last movie in 2009, and are a true action junkie, then it should...

Well, bad news here, The Box is slow moving, poorly directed, and therefore, has weak performances.  The trailer, which seems to promise a science fiction thriller, ends up to be an enticement to a storyline that looses its credibility early on in the film.  I wish I could give you a saving grace point that would help The Box, as I really wanted it to be a great watch, but sci-fi lovers will probably have...

Believe it or not, The Fourth Kind, a true story, is more freaky than Paranormal.  Director Osunsanni takes real video footage of an incident that took place in Alaska, and couples it with some good acting by Jovovich, Patton and Koteas, to create a gripping tale that’s creepy.  If you like science fiction that challenges your mind then this film should fill the void.
