If you like the idea of a richly picturesque world, combined with a simple story formula and swift on-screen action, you might just like Avatar on DVD -- even if this isn't the 3D version.

The lively performance by Jennifer Garner makes Elektra an energetic film, especially on Blu-ray. This being the Director’s Cut, I found it provided more depth to the characters. With the recent release of several comic book character films involving female martial artists, the Elektra Blu-ray makes a good video library piece. If you like films with solid action, an interesting storyline and some very good bonus features, then crank this film up and take the ride.

It doesn’t seem possible that Armageddon can be more explosive than in theatres, but seeing it on Blu-ray comes close. I was totally blown away with the detail, color and picture quality that this movie delivers in a home setting. The movie is a classic with an all-star dream cast, imaginative storyline and awesome special effects/CGI.

In remote Alaska, citizens have been mysteriously vanishing since the 1960s. Despite multiple FBI investigations, the truth behind the phenomena had never been discovered—until now.
While videotaping therapy sessions with traumatized patients, psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler (Milla Jovovich) unwittingly exposes terrifying revelations of multiple victims whose claims of being visited by alien figures all share disturbingly identical details.
Based on actual case studies, The Fourth Kind uses Dr. Tyler’s never-before-seen archival footage alongside dramatic reenactments...

I think Bruce Willis is probably the best all-around film star that has survived nearly three decades without a dud. And with Surrogates it’s a near miss. Just eking above average, the film survives with some awesome special effects and Willis’ creative performance. If you like science fiction that goes hyper realistic, then Surrogates should be on your DVD short list.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles was one of the more interesting action-packed, sci-fi shows on television while it lasted. It really put the movies to shame with in-depth characters, attention-keeping storylines and, of course, lots of gun fire and explosions.

Don't let the fact that Joshua Jackson actually starred in Dawson's Creek deter you from this one. Fringe is an entertaining, innovative sci-fi crime drama with great acting and quirky humor.
The show revolves around three unlikely colleagues -- a beautiful, young and determined FBI agent (Anna Torv), a brilliant but off-the-wall scientist (John Noble), and his sardonic, roguish son (Joshua Jackson) -- who team up to investigate a series of peculiar deaths and...

About one month before season nine of Smallville premieres, the season eight DVD is released. Amongst the tons of comic book references in the season's highlights, you will get the anti-climactic "Doomsday" season finally, Lana's return to the show and a few characters from the comic -- an all around fun watch for fans of the show.
