This Weekend- April 18-20! Jordin Sparks, will.i.am, Ne-Yo, Doug E. Fresh, Talib Kweli, Chrisette Michele, and The Bacon Brothers are just some of the artists performing for free at eight landmark parks in some of the largest cities across the country. Event cities include: New York City (Central Park), Chicago (Lincoln Park Zoo), Miami (Bicentennial Park), Denver (City Park), Dallas (Fair Park), San Francisco (Golden Gate Park), Los Angeles (Santa Monica Pier) and Washington DC on the National Mall.
The Earth Day Network & Green Apple Festival presented by Chase chose parks with eco-considerations and with presence of an organic atmosphere. That means you can walk, ride your bike, take the bus or hop on a train to a place where the air is fresher and the grass is greener. What’s better than a park to support environmental awareness, where you can lounge around with your family and friends to listen to free music from great artists, and have fun in a place that no less preserves nature? What’s even better is that all eight parks will be hosting the event simultaneously starting on April 18th and culminating on April 20th.

Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) take a break from their
usual gig to star in a gritty reality show called “Ghostfacers” which
chronicles the pursuit of the paranormal.
Ed Zeddmore (A. J.
Buckley) and Harry Spengler (Travis Wester) have created a
radically different, and sometimes violent, show full of profanity that
takes them to the Morton Mansion, an abandoned estate which becomes one
of the most haunted places in America one night each year. However, as
their team begins to get picked off in grisly manners not fit for
television, they realize they are in over their heads. Lights, camera...lots of action!

J. K. Rowling Speaks About Lawsuit

Author J.K. Rowling has issued a statement regarding her legal proceedings against RDR Books.
“It
gives me no pleasure to take legal action, but I am here today because
I feel very strongly about an important issue that affects everyone and
not just me. If books that plagiarise other works are permitted,
authors, fans and readers stand to lose. There are lots of books in
many languages that comment on or criticize Harry Potter, and that’s
fine. But the book in this case is different. It provides no analysis
and virtually no commentary. It takes far too much and it offers
precious little in return. I would just like to add that I am extremely
grateful for the incredible support of Harry Potter fans everywhere,” says Rowling.

STAND and the Genocide Intervention Network (GI-Net) are proud to partner with Participant Media in sponsoring the nationwide college tour of the critically acclaimed new documentary, Darfur Now, which will be available on DVD May 27th. The film explores the Darfur conflict in Sudan through the first-hand experiences of Don Cheadle (internationally known actor and activist), Hejewa Adam (rebel of the Sudan Liberation Movement), Pablo Recalde (humanitarian), Ahmed Mahmoud Abaker (community leader in a West Darfur refugee camp), Louis Moreno-Ocampo (international prosecutor), and Adam Sterling (activist).
Across the country, tens of thousands of students have shown that they will not stand idly by in the face of genocide. From passing legislation to fundraising for relief and protection efforts in Darfur, they have declared that they are the anti-genocide generation. But we can do more...
