"Salute to Our Heroes" is a special musical event bringing together the men and women who serve for our country, their families here at home and music fans everywhere. The free webcast; which will feature performances, attractions and activities, is being put on to show we want our troops to come home.

The celebration starts at 11:30 a.m. PT/1:30 p.m. ET on April 11. There will be music, ranging from cowboy country to soulful R&B. Some of the bands involved are FOSTERCHILD, Framing Hanley, Grupo Mania, Lyfe Jennings, Maren Morris, Jennifer Pena, Kritickill, Mark Chesnutt, Mylin, Rissi Palmer, Tantric, and Wild Horses.

The  Florida SuperCon (FSC) will be held in Fort Lauderdale this year. The convention will play host to stars from the different genres of comic book, anime, animation, manga, sci-fi, and fantasy -- the likes of Harry Potter, Avatar, Thundercats, Jem, Adult Swim, Marvel, DC and others.

The Hyatt Regency Bonaventure Resort, which is three times larger than last year's arena for the FSC, will house this SuperCon May 23-25, 2008. The festivities begin with an open ceremony starting May 23 at 5:00 p.m., and continues on, practically around the clock, through Sunday, May 25, ending at 6:00 p.m.

mtvU's "Turn It Up" has another major player joining in: Emmanuel Jal. Jal is a former Sudanese child soldier who has made international fame as a hip-hop artist. mtvU is doing a month-long feature of "leaks" and music video premieres, promoting the fight against the Darfur Genocide.

The MTV channel has partnered with STAND, a Student Anti-Genocide Coalition, and Jal joined the ranks with Death Cab for Cutie, Atmosphere, Tapes ‘n Tapes, Dizzee Rascal, Tokyo Police Club, and The Long Blondes, among others.

G. Love and Tristan Prettyman join Barefoot Wine and the Surfrider Foundation to support the "barefoot-friendly" beaches rescue project.

That's right, a rescue project. Between May and August 2008, the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project is partnering with the Surfrider Foundation to restore four beaches across the United States because so many beaches - over 25,000 - are closed or posted as unfriendly.
