From the opening notes to the smashing finale,
the Shine A Light concert by the Rolling Stones at Beacon Theatre in New York provides a
high-energy rush that lasts well past the two-hour IMAX experience. It’s so big on the IMAX screen that you get
the feeling you’re part of the concert audience. And don’t hesitate to get up and cheer or
bounce around with the rocking sound track either!
Shine A Light documents a
remarkable stage performance by the longest-lived continuously active group in
rock and roll history. The legendary
Martin Scorsese did not only direct the movie concert, but used academy award-winning cinematographers to bring it to the screen.

Although I feel that Stop-Loss
has its moments, the story becomes repetitive and wanders with side plots. The winner here is the taut
beginning that had me gripping my seat during the shattering battle
scenes. Acting could have been a bit
more natural and direction more pin point, but in all Stop-Loss comes in
above average.
Sgt.
Brandon King, honored war hero, returns home to Texas from his tour of duty in
Iraq shortly after a skirmish that ended with the death of some of his squad
after he led them into a blind alley.
Distraught with the memories, but happy that he will be mustered out
within days, Brandon parties with retuning buddies Burgess (Gordon-Levitt) and
Shriver (Tatum).

Named for the Bush Sr. sanctioned nickname of their hometown Portland, Oregon, Little Beirut’s rock quartet has seen a few line-up changes. But the new incarnation suits, as is evidenced on their first commercial release High Dive. Using outside producers and engineers for the first time in order to broaden the scope of their sound, the members of Little Beirut have effectively accomplished a goal with the new album, and they're ready to show off their vision.

The domination of the hard rock scene in the late eighties
by heavy metal hair bands sparked a backlash from back-to-basics hard rock bands
who wanted to capture the spirit of their live shows on record.
Leading the pack
from Los Angeles, where the slick blond
hair-dyed job look originated, was Guns N' Roses, a band whose first record
Appetite for Destruction, made a slow climb up the charts. Now twenty years
later, one of the greatest hard rock albums of all time is getting both a
fitting tribute and compelling documentation in Reckless
Road: Guns N’ Roses and the Making of Appetite for Destruction.
