Rachel Taylor Brown has been in the music industry for a while, and seems to be coming into her own. ACED was fortunate enough to have a chat with the singer, talking about everything from favorite television shows, living as a hermit, and advice for aspiring artists.
Out of Portland, Oregon, Rachel Taylor Brown has a sly sense of humor and speaks the truth about her beliefs with conviction without mincing words. These characteristics are things many can take heart in and learn from.
Half Hours with Lower Creatures is Rachel's latest project. She believes that music becomes personal property for those who listen to it. "I've been astounded (and amused) sometimes at how a listener interprets a lyric light years from what I may have meant. But, many times, whatever they heard meant something to them. I wouldn't want to take that away. I know I do it too, with other people's music."

About three questions into an interview with Pretendo, it’s easy to realize that though they may take their music seriously, they’re certainly not taking their interviews too seriously.
The guys from Pretendo, Devin E. Levins (vocals, guitar), John Castro (bass, vocals) and Stephen Calhoon (drums) recently joked their way through an interview with ACED.
When asked exactly how he got into music, Castro told an interesting story. “When my father said to me, ‘You are a failure at everything except singing Jackson Five songs and bass guitar! You have two choices: Go to military camp and fight with the Lebanese Army, or get out of the house and play music for the peasants.’ Obviously, I chose the latter.”

For the intense and angsty
post-punk band The Shackeltons, music isn't just a passion. The music they
create encompasses every fiber of their being. Their goal isn't to be the most
revered band in the world; but that they truly touch their audience with their
songs (though being the most revered band in the world wouldn't hurt either.)
"I hope our music is like a friend to the listener. A
friend in a torrent storm. A friend in the mystery of life. A friend in the
aching and yearning of life. That is what music has been to me," said Shackeltons
frontman Mark Redding, addressing the question so fluidly that his regular speech
could be mistaken for lyrics or poetry.

When you hear about Trey Moore’s southern charm, you may find yourself interested. When you hear about his support of his hometown’s local charities, you may be impressed. But, when you hear about his goals and accomplishments in the entertainment industry, you’ll realize that Trey Moore might just be the next big thing.
“I’ve been acting since I was big enough to walk,” said Moore. “I was the kid with the camcorder going around making movies.”
“I’d go up to the fat kids and tempt them with candy and I’d go up to the other kids and tempt them with some of my allowance, and we’d make little movies,” he said. “I mean, they were horrible but they were fun.”

West Palm Beach played host to the annual International Film Festival, and, of course, everyone who was anyone associated with film: actors, directors, screenplay writers and critics alike, came out in their Saturday best. Many were old-timers, but a handful of young, up-and-coming actors were being presented with awards.
One such actor was a young man with well over twenty movies and television credits to his name. This is no easy feat to achieve when you're in a very competitive business like this, and you're not even old enough to get a driver's permit, unless...your name is Josh Hutcherson.
Amazingly warm, down-to- earth, intelligent and humorous, Josh spoke
with me about his upcoming movie, Journey to the Center of the Earth, which will be opening in theatres this July. He also candidly
talked about the important things in his life, like his pets, his
favorite music, and a topic that I was especially interested in:
working with Brendan Fraser (heavy sigh).
