Jann Klose, A Beautiful Dream PDF Print E-mail
Written by John Casquarelli
Thursday, 24 January 2008

jannklose_pic.jpgJann Klose's new album, Reverie, is a beautiful ensemble of soothing lyrics and sweet-sounding rhythms that take hold of the listener's imagination, inviting them into a transcendental-musical trip beyond the limitations of the nine-to-five tangible world that far too often acts as a paralysis to creativity. Carl G. Jung would be proud. Be that as it may, when asked to explain his unique and enchanting easy-listening sounds, Jann describes his music as "Melodic pop rock ... That's the quick and easy description. If I could I'd add strong folk and jazz influences as well as some soul and blues."

Born in Mannheim, Germany, Jann's family relocated to Nairobi, Kenya when he was less than a year old. A few years later, Jann and his family left Kenya for Johannesburg, South Africa. Currently residing in the Bronx, New York, we wondered what it was like living in Africa and how it contributed to him as a musician? "I get asked that a lot and it's difficult to answer. I think it has influenced me more as a person than as a musician. It has made me a more open-minded individual. I enjoy different cultures. I'm drawn to them because they have something to offer that I don't know anything about," says Jann.

eva_pic.jpg Getting to know a celebrity in a short period of time in order to get a good interview can be tough, especially when you only have ten minutes. Because Eva Longoria Parker is so nice and charming, my conversation with the leading lady turned into a great little interview.

Eva, best known for her work on Desperate Housewives, from which she received a Golden Globe nomination, stars in her newest film Over Her Dead Body, which opens everywhere on February 1st. Other notable films include The Sentinel, Harsh Times and Carlita"s Secret. She is married to Tony Parker, the point guard for the San Antonio Spurs.

keke.jpg While most 14 year-olds are concerned about fitting in, one has decided to conduct a movement about standing out. She"s Keke Palmer, rising recording artist and actress.

Originally from Illinois, Lauren Keyana Palmer, nicknamed Keke by her older sister, moved out to California to help her budding acting career. She was only nine at the time, but her acting debut in Barbershop 2- Back In Business, starring Queen Latifah, was the jumpstart that Keke needed.

From that point on, Keke continued to get more and more work, receiving endless awards and nominations. Keke told us about what it was like working with Queen Latifah and William H. Macy. She had this to say about Queen Latifah: "It was just a great experience working with her, it was my first movie.”

jaimiealexander.jpg Jaimie Alexander plays Jessi in Kyle XY. Her character took a dive from a cliff at the end of the last episode—supposedly to her death. As with all television shows however, things are not always as they appear. Jessi is actually alive and well.

"Jessi is, if I can remember correctly, in every episode in season 2.5. She plays a big role and definitely stirs up things a lot more than she did last season. Still trying to be a good person, but things don"t always go her way," says Alexander.

aprilmatson_kylexy_image.jpgKyle XY returns to primetime January 14th on ABC Family (tomorrow). The opening release answers all of the questions left by the cliffhanger-ending of the previous episode. April Matson plays Lori Trager on the show and enthusiastically spoke to us about the upcoming episodes.

About her character and the progression in the coming shows. "The thing I love about Lori is that she sort of has a way of being bigger than everything else and being right and moving on and bucking up. That was definitely a lot of episodes of being really angry and going through everything.

"But definitely in the second part of the season, what you"re about to see starting on January 14th, she sort of makes peace with everything, and she does sort of...I don"t know. She does definitely work it out and gets back to her self sort of … moving on, songwriting again, more drama with Declan and she lets go of all that anger, so definitely I think we"ll get back to the Lori that we all love," she says.
