idolcamp.jpg Idol Camp jump started after America's #1 television series "American Idol". The camp is a performing arts summer program that's now located at Pali Mountain in Running Springs, California.

This camp is non-competitive and fun-filled for children learning more about the crafts in the performing arts field. The camp will have past "American Idol" alums making special appearances to give aspiring singers first-hand knowledge about the entertainment industry.

"When we launched Idol Camp earlier this year, seeing the response from the kids showed all of us how the Idol experience really enhances the camp experience for children," said Shannon Sweeny Pruitt, Vice President Integrated Marketing, Sponsorship, & Live Events for FremantleMedia Enterprises. "By bringing the camp west to the new campus, which is absolutely stunning, and by broadening the age groups and adding more time for classes and activities, we hope to enrich the experience for everyone."

There is a camp curriculum, and the children who participate in Idol Camp will create their own schedules, picking different classes for singing, dancing, acting, song-writing, audition and performance techniques, personal style, video production, set design and more.

Sessions for Idol Camp 2008 include: June 15 - June 28, June 29 - July 12, July 13 - July 26, July 27 - August 9, August 10 - August 23. Enrollment is available to all children in the United States aged 10-15 who have a passion for the arts.

Idol Camp costs $2,995 for the 14-day session, not including transportation to the camp. There are scholarships that will be paid in full, which will be rewarded to a select number of applicants based on financial need.

If a child enters Idol Camp, there is no guarantee that the child will make it onto the show "American Idol". Children in Idol Camp will not be provided with inside information or any other advantage in the "American Idol" audition process.
