For those who like the Grateful Dead, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, John Lennon's solo career, and don't mind dabbling in Colbie Caillet or KT Tunstall, then Melbourne, Florida's Clock Hands Strangle is your band.

They're a blue-grass, Glockenspiel-toten, modern indie, folk rock band. Oh glockenspiel?  Think Christmas songs with bells playing in the background.  Their mellow melodies and lofty lyrics about nature, philosophy, religion, and astronomy make up the composition of their debut album, Redshift/Blueshift. Songs, such as"Perspective", strongly echo the style of the Grateful Dead and the Beatles' "Revolver". Its melody and sardonic poetry is unmistakable.

The album title is an astronomer's point of view of things moving away and toward other things. Songs like "White Blazes", for example, offer a light jam of folk rock, with a touch of jazz.

For the listener who just wants to kick back on a lazy Sunday, and soak up the warmth of a late spring afternoon, this would be the perfect music.  Though the songs clearly demonstrate strong influences from artists of the past, Clock Hands Strangle still manages to offer quite a bit of their own personal touch.
