Compiled and performed by the Pipes and Drums of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, Spirit of the Glen is a 14-track collection of both traditional and modern Scottish arrangements. Each band member is also a regular soldier too, involved in normal Army duties as well as going on tour most years.
Overall, the album has a very light, refreshing feel, without being jiggy or decidedly upbeat. The Scottish sounds of the pipes and drums have a serene and calming effect, despite not being any bit of a downer.

Their most well-known song and first track, the group's rendition of "Amazing Grace", is a beautiful and unique instrumental version of the tune. Naturally, the collection isn't a thriller, but it fits perfectly for when one is in need of a relaxing and/or calmly uplifting break from normal day to day problems, patterns, or the same old music. Sit back and enjoy!
