Artist: Little Beirut, Album: High Dive, Web Dwelling: http://www.littlebeirut.com Boasting orchestral arrangements, coupled with sound lyricism, High Dive showcases the band's enthusiasm for their new work. While having described the deceptive exterior of their music as ‘sugary’, Little Beirut’s offering of tracks, such as the much showcased “Love During Wartime”, highlights the conscious reflection that drives their song-writing. Seriously, who thinks to write a love song to the irreproachably formidable Condoleezza Rice? It’s brilliantly profound and cheeky in spirit. We find other gems like this one scattered about the disc such as “Sniper’s Lament” and “Loose Medusa”. We sense these tracks wandering around political and social commentary-land in the guise of ambiguous alternative art rock. Needless to say, it tickles our fancy. High Dive is out April 8th. Take the plunge.

Named for the Bush Sr. sanctioned nickname of their hometown Portland, Oregon, Little Beirut’s rock quartet has seen a few line-up changes. But the new incarnation suits, as is evidenced on their first commercial release High Dive. Using outside producers and engineers for the first time in order to broaden the scope of their sound, the members of Little Beirut have effectively accomplished a goal with the new album, and they're ready to show off their vision.
