Image Rating: R
Starring: Toby Jones, Sandra Bullock, Daniel Craig, Peter Bogdanovich, Jeff Daniels
Directed by: Doug McGrath

Synopsis: 1959 Manhattan was a party, and none of the glitterati glittered brighter than Truman Capote. Then he saw a story in The New York Times: "Wealthy Farmer, 3 of Family Slain," and the party ended for Capote. He plunged into the murder case that inspired his great "nonfiction novel" In Cold Blood and led him into a fevered relationship with one of the two doomed killers. But there's more to the story than you know. Toby Jones (as Capote) leads Sandra Bullock, Daniel Craig, Sigourney Weaver and many more stars in a witty, moving and astonishing tale of obsession. What happened to the extraordinary literary talent that burned within Truman Capote? The answer may be found in a story at once famous and Infamous.

Critique:

Warner Independent Pictures' 2006 biopic of author Truman Capote packed everything but a hefty sum at the box office. Infamous is boiling over with name talent—Sandra Bullock, Toby Jones, Jeff Daniels...for some reason that just wasn't enough to get people to the show during its theatrical release.

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that another movie about Capote had just recently been released. You know...Capote. Admittedly, I was one of those people that decided not to go see this one. Why see another movie about the same exact thing?

The answer - because this is a very well done production with great performances. It gives a little more information about Capote which fills in some gaps left by its predecessor the year before, and it illustrates other things about Capote from a different perspective.

If you didn't manage to catch this one at the box office (and from the figures I would guess most of you didn't) you really should give this one a go. It is just as enjoyable as Capote, with a shameless flair, much like the "infamous" author and the two convicted killers the story is centered around.
