The hit series, Ghost Hunters, is back in full force for its fourth season on the Sci-Fi channel. Jason Hawes heads up Ghost Hunters as the founder of T.A.P.S., which stands for The Atlantic Paranormal Society. Grant Wilson is Jason’s confidante and best friend and they both share a deep interest in the paranormal.
These two lead investigators have helped turn the series, Ghost Hunters, into one of the hottest shows on cable TV. Jason and Grant have also watched T.A.P.S. grow into one of the top paranormal-investigation teams in America. With branches spread out all over the US, there are also T.A.P.S. affiliates in 12 other countries.
So….Ghost or no Ghost, that is the question. For Jason and Grant though, it’s not all about finding spirits and debunking claims. There is much, much more to Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, other than bustin' ghosts, that some people might not know. First, they happen to hold regular day jobs as plumbers and both have families. Jason is a husband and father of three girls and twin sons. Grant Wilson is a husband and father of three boys. Could we have some future ghost hunters in the making?
“All my children are highly interested in the paranormal and they would love to follow in my footsteps. You know, but mainly my kids look at me as, you know, their dad’s a plumber. Yeah, he investigates the paranormal, but my main job is I’m a plumber,” said Jason.
“Yeah, you ask my kids what dad does for a living and they say 'oh, he’s a plumber.' But they watch a lot of Scooby-Doo which is good because, you know, it’s always Old Man Jenkins…instead of a ghost, you know. So, they’re good. They investigate. They think my barn’s haunted, but I know that it’s just the light outside that’s reflecting on the window,” said Grant.
Grant and Jason are just ordinary, average guys with families that happen to be plumbers by day and well-known Ghost Hunters by night. They realize that family comes first and that their profession is plumbing. It’s also refreshing to see that Jason and Grant’s kids can distinguish between daddy as the plumber and daddy as the Ghost Hunter.
Besides spending quality time with his family, Jason also enjoys deep-sea fishing and writing screenplays. He has written four in the Sci-Fi/thriller genre. Grant writes songs on the piano and guitar, and is working on a series of high-fantasy novels. When Grant’s not playing family man, plumber or Ghost Hunter, he also enjoys cooking Italian dishes. He spent two years in Italy and can speak the language quite fluently.
“I love to cook and people tell me I cook well, but I’m not an accomplished chef. I do like to make up stuff though and I make a nice Lemon Chicken Alfredo,” said Grant.
So, as you can see, these two men are obviously more than just Ghost Hunters, they are just a couple of "ordinary, average guys"—in the words of Eagles’ guitarist, Joe Walsh. Season four looks to be very exciting with the new locations and new cases, so don’t miss it! You can catch new episodes of Ghost Hunters every Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET on the Sci-Fi channel.
