That's right, a rescue project. Between May and August 2008, the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project is partnering with the Surfrider Foundation to restore four beaches across the United States because so many beaches - over 25,000 - are closed or posted as unfriendly. Musicians G. Love and Tristan Prettyman are getting involved in this year's rescue mission to make beaches "barefoot-friendly," singing at special celebrations that will follow each beach rescue. The first beach rescue happens in Montauk, New York on May 31. "Having grown up in San Diego, I spent most of my time at the beach and can't imagine what life would be like without the surf and sand," said Prettyman. "I'm excited to volunteer and share my music with people who take the time to give back to their communities." Below are the beaches getting rescued this year:
Montauk, N.Y., Saturday, May 31 Everyone can vote for one of ten beaches that could receive its own beach cleanup and celebration this summer. Go to www.BarefootWine.com/BeachRescue to submit your vote or to get more information - you must be 21 years of age or older to attend the celebrations that follow the cleanup. |
