Apparently, Teedo has been making music for over four years, but on their EP You Are My Girl, it sure sounds like less than that... not to say that's a bad thing. In fact, it works marvelously. You Are My Girl is not the world's best EP, but it's certainly not a shabby effort, and makes an excellent showcase for the group and their music.

Teedo's label has been billing them as funky post-punk. Post-punk? Not really. Funky? Definitely. Not everybody will dig the sort of funky alt-rock they create, and therefore Teedo will not be everybody's band. However, there is no denying they are good at what they do.

The standout track is the title, "You Are My Girl". The funky synth riffs are fun and contrast starkly with the warped and tbleaker-sounding vocals; the lyrics are fairly simplistic, but nothing more complex is needed. "Shut The Door on The World" is also a very enjoyable track, opening with classic rock-influenced instrumentals that flatten out as soon as the vocals (which are low-key until the chorus) kick in; just as in "You Are My Girl", "Shut The Door on the World" has some pretty groovy synth action.

As I mentioned before, Teedo's music isn't for everybody, but fans of the Teenagers and possibly of the Thrills should enjoy this EP. However, You Are My Girl is worth looking into even if you're not so crazy about those bands; after all, Teedo has a sound all their own.
