![]() Rated: PG The C.S. Lewis story continues with the Pevensie children, Peter (Mosley), Susan (Popplewell), Edmund (Keynes) and Lucy (Henley), making their way to school on an ordinary day. A year has passed since their adventure in Narnia and the four siblings haven’t given much thought to the wonders and hardships they had endured. But, unbeknownst to them, in the land of Narnia time has passed much faster, 1300 years to be exact. Just as the children reach the train station platform, in a different time dimension, Prince Caspian (Barnes) has become the successor to the throne of Telmarine, following his father’s untimely death. His uncle, Lord Miaz (Castellitto), has plans of his own to claim the throne and marks Prince Caspian for death. Following a fanatical chase into the woods of Narnia, Caspian falls from his horse. Miaz’s men attack Caspian whereby he blows Susan’s enchanted horn to summon the Narnian Kings and Queens. Magically whisked to Narnia, the Pevensie children find themselves in the almost unidentifiable land of Narnia, drastically changed for the worse over time. Bewildered, the four royalties try to make their way across the country with the help of a Dwarf named Trumpkin (Dinklage). When they meet up with Prince Caspian they realize why they have been summoned. Adamson makes his sequel a little darker, much like the Harry Potter series progressed, giving adults a better entertainment thrill ride. The special effects are way above the norm. I especially liked the scene where the ground starts collapsing while the battle surges on and boulders smash into the Narnian fortress with devastating results. The creatures of Narnia have had a totally amazing CGI makeover, and are more convincing than ever. Some of the outstanding new creatures that appear in the sequel include a dashing and courageous mouse named Reepicheep, flying Gryphons that carry the Pevensies into battle, a very wise badger and a feisty squirrel. Reepicheep reminded me of the leader of The Three Musketeers with his two mouse pals. All the creatures were amazingly lifelike, including the Centaurs (half man and horse), Minotaurs (pig faced beasts), satyrs (goat-like creatures) and a sinister looking werewolf. Starring: Ben Barnes, William Mosley, Anna Popplewell, Skandar Keynes, Georgie Henley, Peter Dinklage, Sergio Castellitto, and Liam Neeson (as the voice of Aslan) FIINAL ANALYSIS: Prince Caspian gives Narnia a welcomed new thrill ride for the whole family.
