![]() Brain Thrust Mastery This latest effort from W.A.S. is reminiscent of the Strokes, with a splash of Franz Ferdinand and a hint of 80s style, accompanied by punk-like bursts. It has a solid presence throughout the entire compilation, although slightly redundant in the bass department on certain selections. The first track on the album, "Ghouls", has some very humpback-whale-song-like guitar riffs whined in here and there. It may come off like a weird description, but it sounds good when you listen to it. There are lots of little bells and trumpets, and other trinkets, used to break up the monotony in each song. This actually works well, keeping the listener interested. While there are a few songs I did not care for because they were a little too repetitive, the overall album rates high as an ensemble with catchy tunes, foot-tapping beats and unique, embedded patches of "quirk". Songs that stand out: Ghouls, Let's See It, Tonight, Chick Lit Check the Official We Are Scientists Site for more information on the band.
