 From the moment I opened the book Red Sky Morning, I was
captivated. I have yet to read a novel about the trials of sea life quite like
this one. From page one you can see the time and detail the author put into
making an accurate depiction of his past experiences.
The detail was so forth coming, that when the water was described, I could almost smell the salt air and feel the breeze in my hair. Each chapter brought forward a new adventure or trial, and my heart raced as I looked forward to what happened next. The book brought reality to a commercial fisherman’s life, and demonstrated the sacrifice each angler possesses. Within the book is a separate journey that the author, Andrew Rafkin, experienced as well. It was during this time that the author got to know his father and grew as a man himself. Final Analysis: This is a wonderful book that even a novice reader would enjoy. You don’t have to like fishing or the ocean to appreciate the great quality of this novel. I would recommend this book to anyone, young or old. It’s very easy to read and hard to put down.
