Singer-songwriter Sonya Kitchell will be releasing a new album, This Storm, in stores September 2. This Storm is Kitchell's second album; her debut release, Words Came Back To Me, was recorded when she was just fifteen years-old.
This Storm will feature a more grown-up Kitchell. This time around, she worked with producer and Grammy winner Malcolm Burn, of Peter Gabriel and Daniel Lanois fame. The tracks on this album focus on troubling issues such as loss, aloneness, and of course, war. Kitchell has also received attention for her recent collaboration with well-known jazz musician Herbie Hancock and they will be on tour together until the middle of August. Both performed together on the Sundance Channel's acclaimed program Live From Abbey Road, as well as on the award-winning Joni Mitchell tribute album, The Joni Letters.
