Visiting the Harry Potter set is just as magical as watching the movies -- everywhere you turn there are subtle wonders to behold. Now that the Half-Blood Prince teaser trailer (view below) has been released for the upcoming film I can share a few of my experiences while on set.
The press room we parked ourselves in for much of the day was well decorated with Half-Blood Prince goodies. With everything from still shots of scenes in the film to costumes and furniture off the sets, the media reps were in Harry Heaven.
It is awe-inspiring when you gaze at the painfully crafted detail that goes into every prop, set, costume and creature for this theatrical series. Everything culminates into its own magical existence while you are walking through this fantasy filmic realm.
Whether touring around the Great Hall, flopping on the chair in Dumbledore's office, or tinkering about in the Weasleys' kitchen -- there is always something to feast your eyes and fingers upon. If that's not enough, there are giant spiders and creepy-crawly hairy things awaiting you in the creature shack out back. Lets just say, they look real enough to freak any unsuspecting passer by to death past twilight.
After viewing some of the photography mounted on the press walls, I can definitely say Daniel Radcliffe (Harry) walks through fire in this upcoming installment of Harry lore. And after chatting with him, one definitely gets the notion that this release will make its predecessor look like a whisper in the wind by comparison.
Periodically throughout the day different members of the cast made their way down to talk to us about Half-Blood Prince; each excited and eager to speak about the nuances of this latest effort. Among those who graced our press room were Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Tom Felton, Evannah Lynch, Bonnie Wright, Matthew Lewis, Jessie Cave and David Barron. We also had a chat with the creature effects fellow back in the shack, and David Yates spoke with us during filming on a live set.
Of course, this leads into the scene they were filming that day...that had something to do with a certain fellow Ron and a little something about Quidditch. But that is all I can recall for now kiddies...
I will be posting my full report of the goings on, along with the cast interviews, a little closer to the film's release. For now, delight in the amazing splendor of the Half-Blood Prince teaser trailer below:
