The only investor for the film is a Bigfoot eyewitness by the name of Arvin Jones (played by Tom Monnet). He simply asks to have his product, a bull semen fortifying cream, placed in the film in return ... that shouldn't be too difficult. Critique: Even though most of the humor is subtle, the comedic timing and rhythm is perfect. One of the best examples of this is when Michael and his star actor, Rory (Ross), reason between who will get to show Patti (Joyner) how to act in a kissing scene. As soon as Patti asks Michael to demonstrate with Monica, he insists that Rory shows how it is done. The story behind Monica is a trip. To add some diversity to his cast, Michael brings in Monica, a black girl whose mere presence in the production has everyone walking on the tips of their toes when anything remotely stereotypical occurs. But for Michael, "the only color that matters is pink because we're all pink inside." Michael probably justifies this best when Scotty Downs (McCarthy) or "Ty the Tracker", asks him to describe what Monica looks like. Michael describes everything from the clothes she's wearing to the color of her hair, but completely bypasses the fact that she's black. Yet, oblivious to his own ignorance, Michael's stories about the origins behind certain symbols or terms like MOS only create further socially awkward situations and can always silence a room. The depth of comical wit and cleverness in the film is noteworthy. A lot of the humor builds up and you will see references to something throughout. In other instances, you really have to pay close attention because the humor is purely visual and you'll miss it otherwise. You will find the funniest parts in the screening of Michael's horror movie, Return of the Bigfoot, to be this way. The facial expressions and body gestures from the likes of Michael, Arvin, Scotty, and the unnamed intern (Garrett) who plays Bigfoot, are entertaining. However, there are times when it feels like the humor tries too hard or is predictable. The technical elements as far as editing and cinematography are wonderfully done and add a nice touch to making the mockumentary believable: the grainy appearance of the footage, hand-held camera movement, frequent jump cuts, zoom and focus readjustments, and brief comments from the camera operators trailing Michael and his cast. Final Analysis: This film within a film will appeal to anyone who enjoys subtle or dry humor. There are moments that are absolutely hilarious, but if you're looking for constant laughter, this is not for you. Starring: Jonathan Grant, Lucas Ross, Brittany Joyner, Ty McCarthy, Raychel Winstead, Keenan Garrett
