Though she's only 21, Lesley Roy has had a lot of experience in the music industry. She has worked with writers like Katy Perry, Diane Warren, Max Martin, Dr. Luke, Savan, Rami, Per Aldeheim, Camela, and Desmond Child, among others. Lesley looks at different perspectives to write her songs, be it from a personal viewpoint or a storytelling viewpoint, Lesley wants her songs to be authentic.

The opening track of Unbeatiful, "I'm Gone, I'm Going", is a fast-paced, all-or-nothing song of a woman who has had enough, and is not only finally leaving physically, but emotionally as well. Lesley's rustic voice in "Slow Goodbye" reminds me of Janis Joplin. The title track "Unbeautiful" is about a broken relationship and the woman questioning what it was she did to make herself unbeautiful in the eyes of the man she loves.
