As part of their buildup for the soon-to-be released skate, EA Games has now lanunched an impressive, interactive site for what they are describing as "the definitive authentic skating video game experience". skate will be released for the PlayStation®3 and the Xbox 360™ systems later this year, and promises to deliver the most addictive, authentic skating video game the world has seen. Set in San Velona — the ultimate skating mecca — skate is based around an entirely new control system, designed to do away with button mashing and allow the user to execute tricks that "capture the real-world feel and true attitude of skating". Scott Blackwood, executive producer, EA Black Box, is excited by skate's ability to emulate the real-world scating experience. "We're focused on capturing the actual feeling of skating with the innovative analog control system," Blackwood comments, "the physics-driven animations, the intelligent cameras and fish-eye effects work together to really deliver the closest thing to being on a board." Along with the new control system, skate features a video capture system (with multiple camera angles and editing, so you can show-off your skills online!), open progression, skater-editing (decide how your skater looks, feels and rides), and an extensive online gameplay system. You have seen skate games before, but nothing on this level! The pro-skaters featured are a mix of professional legends and upcoming pros, including Danny Way , Mark Gonzales, Rob Dyrdek, Mike Carroll, P.J. Ladd, Chris Cole, Jason Dill, Pat Duffy, Jerry Hsu, Paul Rodriguez, Dennis Busenitz, Alex Chalmers, Chris Haslam, Colin McKay, John Rattray, Ryan Gallant, Ryan Smith and Terry Kennedy. The new wesite includes all the latest news and discussion about the game, along with in-depth bios of the pro-skaters featured in the game, video tutorial for the new control system and an online tour of the San Velona 'playground' (with downloadable wallpaper of the various locations). The media section is packed with images, screengrabs, promo-clips and video packages taken from the game. It is more than enough to whet the appetite of skaters and gamers alike! Check out some of the impressive promo-shots below, and lookout for skate in stores near you soon!
