A new band has arrived on the music scene—Office. Scratchie/New Line Records has signed this band to their label and Office will be releasing their debut album, A Night at the Ritz, on September 25, 2007. The group launched their work in Chicago last year, capturing much attention.
Most of the album was recorded in front-man Scott Masson's apartment over the past Winter and Spring seasons. Word has traveled about the band and their organic style throughout Chicago; and Masson's native home of Detroit. The Office has already been heard nationally, even though their debut album has yet to release. Some people might have heard them on NPR, who featured one of the band's songs as "Song of the Day". Spin.com also featured the group as one of 32 contenders for the 2007 Artist of the Year. The summer of 2006 gave the band their breakthrough moment. James Iha and Adam Schlesinger heard the band and thought Office was what Scratchie Records was looking for. In November of 2006, Office had a deal with the label. Lead band mate Masson said, "This album has easily been the most grueling recording project I've ever been a part of, but also the most rewarding. It was years of revision, reworking, rethinking, subtracting, adding, and re-recording until it got to where it is now." Listen to one of the songs featured on their upcoming album: Track List for A Night at the Ritz:
