historical_conquests_of_josh_ritter.jpgJosh Ritter anxiously awaits the upcoming August 21st release of his new album, The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter.

His previous success, The Animal Year, helped give him the confidence he has today. Who couldn't gain confidence when Stephen King himself confesses that Josh's CD The Animal Years was his number one favorite album of 2006, saying, "this is the most exuberant outburst of imagery since Bob Dylan's A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall."

Though this upcoming album will be his fourth full length, Josh has found a way to expand his horizons and give a new feel to his work. "A lot of this record is an effort to capture moments when they were at their most passionate; to capture many different emotions that simply wouldn't work if we had ever tried to re-record them."

Josh's goal is to encapsulate the rawness in the different emotions he wants to portray. Though the aspects of each song may be different, the overall feeling of truth behind everything will resonate through to the audience. Josh Ritter wrote the fourteen songs that make up the album, with help from his producer, collaborator, and keyboardist Sam Kassirer.

Check out the first single "Right Moves", off The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter:
