To celebrate the upcoming Fox Walden release The Seeker: The Dark is Rising, fans are being sent on their very own treasure hunt adventure! There are special sequences of the signs embedded in all marketing materials for the movie, which can be entered on the website to unlock exclusive content and behind-the-scenes features!

Based on the novel by award-winning children's author Susan Cooper, the movie follows a teenage boy who travels through time, collecting six different signs that will help him save the world.

To market the movie, family-friendly film studio Fox Walden is sending viewers on a hunt for the same signs, hidden in the movie's advertising and marketing material. When users plug in the signs on the movie's website in a specific order, they get access to content such as behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with the movie's cast and crew.

So join the hunt now, and be sure to check out the Official Website . The Seeker: The Dark is Rising opens across the US on October 5!

The "disingenuiness" of the viral campaign, and the pushing of the seek the signs campaign all over the board through astroturfing, is predominanently leaving a bad taste for the net saavy. For the most part, Walden/Fox has almost completely alienated book fans, losing what could have been a ready made fan base for the movie.
