Rating: R This film is about the first known act of religious terrorism in the United States. This act of terror became known as The Mountain Meadows Massacre, which occurred on September 11, 1857. A set of Mormons slaughtered all but 17 young children on a wagon train of approximately 137 men, women and children going from Utah to California. One single man, Brigham Young, was executed for this heinous crime 20 years after the event occurred. The movie is set to release on August 24th. Jon Voight plays a Mormon bishop, while Terence Stamp plays Brigham Young. Though this movie is about an event that happened 150 years ago, people can find similarities to what is occurring in the world today. |
