In our current generation, it"s not often you find a pop/rock singer who springs out from nowhere and suddenly makes hit singles. Even better, she"s not your typical vocalist who sings about heartbroken love or trying to find a place back in life. Add a bonus that she publicly states her mind about other singers and writes her own lyrics, and you've got KT Tunstall.
{mosgoogle right}Leaving her previous award-winning album, Eye to the Telescope, behind, KT Tunstall returns with a new album, Drastic Fantastic. With Tunstall's experienced acoustic guitar playing, and a Norah Jones-like, throaty singing voice added as an excellent chorus, the combination seems almost phenomenal. New songs on her album include the recently released single “Hold On”, and others such as “Someday Soon” and “If Only". Her single “Hold On” makes new and old fans want more, opening with a foreign introduction entwined with her guitar and husky voice, luring in listeners. The acoustic version of “Hopeless” brings in a different sensation as listeners are brought into a parallel world from this song. Her voice seems gentler, with the chorus singing softly in the background, giving it a dramatic effect. “If Only” begins with the xylophone at the beginning of the song, and listeners are hypnotized into Tunstall’s voice as it becomes progressively louder as the song proceeds. Tunstall leaves no doubt that she is singing with passion and her love for music. Her voice proceeds to become slower in “White Bird” as she trances her listeners into a soft ballad that is both soothing and relaxing. All of Tunstall’s songs have the potential to become great hits. Her new voice and talent has brought together a whole new meaning to “unique”, and she has redefined our generation with songs that talk about more than love and relationships. Tunstall could be the next Norah Jones. Returning from Eye to the Telescope, Tunstall is prepared to let others know that her singing and her music will continue to be Drastic Fantastic! |
