 Cody Linley stars in R.L. Stine's spooky Haunting Hour just in time for Halloween. The movie follows Cassie (Emily Osment), a 13 year-old Goth girl struggling to adapt to
a new neighborhood and a new school.
Feeling like an outsider, Cassie
acts out by playing outrageous pranks to frighten the
popular kids at school, as well as her little brother, Max
(Alex Winzenread).
The day before Halloween, Cassie finds a
book called The Evil Thing that cautions readers "Do Not Read
Aloud". When Max insists on hearing the story, Cassie starts down a
road that begins in the mysterious woods behind their house, leading
to a mysterious stranger who changes their lives forever.
Haunting Hour is great when it comes to bringing about a certain "chill" in the air with its monstrous frights, but what are some things that make Cody jump, cringe or scream?
{mosgoogle right}"You know there isn't one specific thing I'm scared of (like spiders or heights or something), but for some reason I'm a big wimp when it comes to roller coasters...I'll ride them, but I have to be pressured into doing it," Cody laughs.
ACED: Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. Do you still go around and trick or treat? Maybe dress up and attend a perfectly respectable Halloween party? Or are you too "mature" for that now?
Cody: Last year Emily, Brittany and I went to a haunted house together on Halloween, because we were filming in October of last year, and we had a blast...I'm not gonna lie I was pretty scared, but I had to keep my cool since I was with two girls.
ACED: Favorite costume you've worn?
Cody: Last year I was a vampire and so was Emily and Brittany. It was really fun, because we were like a gang of vampires walking around the hotel, and at the haunted house we went to.
ACED: When you were younger, did you believe in the "monsters in the closet" or the ones under your bed? How did you "protect" yourself in the night? For example, I was terrified of the monster under my bed - I always thought he was going to grab my feet, so I kept everything wrapped tightly in my blanket! For some strange reason, I thought if he couldn't see my feet, he couldn't grab them.
Cody: When I was younger I had to have a night light and my closet light on. If I could see in my room I wasn't scared. Also when I DID get scared I would just hide under my blanket, I guess I thought if I couldn't see "them" then they couldn't see "me".
ACED: Have you ever pulled pranks on your friends during the Halloween season?
Cody: A couple years ago my brother and I got back from trick or treating. He went to the car because he forgot something, so I decided to scare him. I hid in the bushes right by the door and waited to scare him...and I kept waiting and waiting, until finally I gave up and went inside. He was in the living room watching T.V.!
ACED: Of all the ghouls and goblins in the fantasy world, which is your favorite beasty and why?
Cody: Vampires. I guess, because they are the closest to humans, so they seem the most likely to be real.
ACED: If you had to pick, which scene in the film was your favorite?
Cody: My favorite seen in the movie was when Brittany had all those hissing cockroaches poured on her. Brittany was really brave to do that, because those cockroaches were NOT fake. She's a really girlie girl, but when it came to doing that scene she was very professional. I was really impressed. Props to Brittany.
ACED: During the film, there is a pretty scary guy giving away candy at his house - have you ever been to a house whilst out on Hallows Eve that was so eerie you didn't want to go up and get your candy?
Cody: Well, I love candy so when I see a place like that I make the sacrifice of being scared for the candy. I remember one time there was this weird stuffed dummy and on the bowl it said "take one!" As I was searching for which one I wanted the dummy came alive and screamed! It scared me to death!...It was really just a man all dressed up, but man it made my heart race.
ACED: What is the one thing you learned while filming Haunting Hour?
Cody: That the location of the film plays a big part in making the movie what it is. Haunting Hour was filmed in Pittsburgh, PA in October. It was very gray and cold, so it helped add the eeriness to the movie when you watch it. Not only that, but it helped me as an actor, because when it was 20 degrees outside, and dark, I was already shaking, so to be scared wasn't too tough. It was different, because the last film I had done was Hoot, which was filmed in Florida in the summer. So I went from filming while it was burning hot to freezing cold. *
Haunting Hour is now out exclusively on DVD - this fun film is a great treat for the upcoming Halloween season - so don't miss it!
