Synopsis: Twenty-two years ago, Sam (Padalecki) and Dean
(Ackles) Winchester lost their mother to a
mysterious and demonic supernatural force. As a result, their father,
John (Jeffery Dean Morgan),
raised the brothers to be soldiers in a supernatural, dangerously spooked reality. {mosgoogle right}He taught them about the paranormal evil that lives in the dark corners and on the back roads of America...and he taught them how to kill it. Sam, however, wanted nothing to do with this violent and dangerous life, and he left it behind, until the day Dean appeared on his doorstep with troubling news. Their father had gone missing on a "hunting trip". Sam and Dean had spent the last year cruising the highways of the United States in their 1967 Chevy Impala, searching for their lost father, and encountering creatures that most people believe exist only in folklore, superstition and nightmares. Along the way, they have battled the various supernatural threats—and each other as well, for their sibling rivalries and conflicts were never far from the surface. Finally, they found their father, just as he was closing in on the Demon who claimed their mother. Finding their father only opens doors harboring even more disturbing secrets about Sam and the Demon's sinister plans for him and others like him...those who have "special gifts". DVD Features:
Critique: This television series is by far one of the best on prime-time today. It outreaches most of the stale feature films that plop themselves on the silver screen. Of all the shows available among the hundreds and hundreds of channels, Supernatural is the most unique. Not only is every episode well written, creative and scarier than most "scary" movies, the characters are magnificent, real and alluring. I applaud the writers of this series for keeping the storyline fresh and thrilling. I haven't seen one episode that was anything less than brilliant, from the thorough representations of folklore and frights, to the fabulous play for play between the two brothers, Dean and Sam. Speaking of the characters, the actors behind these wonderful creations are equally magnificent in their portrayals. Both Ackles and Padalecki have breathed life into Dean and Sam respectively, with a dynamic rarely seen in television drama. With a bold, explosive ending for season two, fans can only wait impatiently until the next season comes about....waiting for their next fix of thrills, sexy action and intense drama. |
