Critique
The Night Listener is a strange little tale about a man, a woman and an imaginary child named Pete. Or, at least I think he is imaginary. Maybe he's not...
This movie is a bit scary. Why? One - the fact that a man would go to so much trouble over people he'd never met, and two - that there really ARE people out there that take the time to create an alter reality for themselves whilst pulling anyone else they can down into it with them.
The acting goes without saying - it's Robin Williams - he is always superb. The other cast members equally hold their own as well. I am not sure the plot is 100% believable if you really sit down to analyze it, but if you don't think on it too much it will be disturbingly entertaining.
There are not many featurettes on this DVD; however, this isn't really the type of film to spawn a lot of goodies either. You will want to buy this DVD if you are a fan of Williams, or if you are intrigued by such psycho dramas.
