Synopsis: Ante up for a sure entertainment bet from L.A. Confidential director Curtis Hanson, who co-wrote this charmer with fellow Academy Award winner Eric Roth (Forrest Gump). Pro gambler Huck Cheever (Bana) meets irresistible Billie Offer (Barrymore) and learns to treat love the way he treats cards: trusting his heart instead of his head. He also scrambles to raise the entry fee for the high-roller World Series of Poker, even though - or maybe because - the tournament may pit him against his estranged father (Duvall), a two-time Series winner. DVD Features:
Even though this film was seemingly unlucky from the get go, with its slow open on screen, to its even slower movie-goer response, it really isn't a bad film. Timing, especially in this industry, is everything. Unfortunately, Lucky You wasn't so fortunate when it came to its untimely release, a good two years after it was actually finished. Despite being the studio's "lost" production, this movie actually deals a pretty good hand in entertainment. If you are a poker player you will love it for its straight shoot. If you are someone that appreciates a good story without the thrills of CGI, you will like this little gem, featuring great performances by Barrymore, Duvall, and Messing.
