Image A few weeks ago we invited everyone to participate in various reader projects.  Many people sent in poetry submissions.  The response was fantastic!  Please check out these fabulous entries sent in by your peers!  Poem topics range from the holidays, mothers, reflections, frowns and more.

Why Frown?

Life is full of ups and downs
It may seem hard but
Why frown?
Relationships may crumble
But there will be more
Why frown ?
There's a time when you lose someone
But as long as you know they've gone to a better place
Why frown?
Life is a mysterious journey
My friend, filled with wonderful things
Why frown?

Mother

My love for you is eternal as the wind from
above, my hopes for you is boundless as this
spring of love,

You may not think I have for you what you
need from me but you should just wait and
see

Many things I do not show but everyday my
hopes prosper and grow

For you are but my child and I am but your
mother and all the love I have for thee
shall outweigh all others.

~Reflections of Reality~

I stand,
one with the horizon,
images before me -
smooth polished water

But...

Which is reflection?
Which is reality?

I look up
into that
which is supposed to be
sky

I look down
into that
which is supposed to be
water

Images are the same
Yet...
reversed

Trees stretch up
Trees reach down
Pictures of clouds floating
Pictures of birds soaring

I reach up
All is out of my reach
The wind taunts me
blowing on my readied fingers
For I have no wings
No current will lift me

I bow my head
A rippling image
before me

One foot steps out
An image of diving trees,
floating clouds,
soaring birds
rushes at me

And...
I realize
as I sink
into cold darkness,
as I look up -
my images dancing above
and around me...

It is easier to fall
Than try to rise above it all

Reflections

This Christmas

This Christmas, I ask you,
Please give me no toys
No candy-filled stockings
The usual noise
No presents, no tinsel
No paper and bows
No cookies, no candies
No perfume of rose
I need no more gadgets
Nor CDs galore
Please stop with this madness
I can take it no more!
This year I want quiet
What’s so wrong with that?
Just turkey and eggnog
And Aunt Edna’s cat
I really do have
Enough on my plate
The chaos and madness
I'm sure it can wait
Christmas comes
The same time each year
But the message remains
To be somewhat unclear
It’s not about money
It’s not about gifts
Not even the store clerks
Who work double-shifts
It’s all about peace
And one little boy
Who saved us from sin
And brought us great joy
So I urge you: Think twice
When spending your cash
Don’t focus on squandering
Your holiday stash
Think instead of the child
Who died for your soul
And then you will see
Christmas as a whole
This Christmas, I beg you,
Don’t waste it away
For it truly can be
A most wonderful day.

Dreams

Dreams are beautiful, dreams are strange
Dreams are something we can't rearrange.
We sometimes dream of what we want to see
But sometimes those aren't meant to be.
We sometimes laugh, we sometimes cry
Some people, unfortunately, have to die.
For me, one thing is surely true. I'm glad my dreams belong to you.

What would you do.....

What would you do if I took your heart and ripped it into two?
What would you do if I caught your words and threw them back at you?
What would you do if I saw your smile and wiped it from your face?
What would you do if I found your stash and let it go to waste?
What would you do if I took your knife and used it for my pain?
What would you do if your hurtful actions caused me to fall again?
What would you do if your years of torture were surfaced from my mind?
What would you do if a happy thought no-one could ever find?
What would you do if I took your soul and broke it piece by piece?
What would you do if I told you that my love for you has ceased?
What would you do if your pearly tears were turned to crimson red?
What would you do if hurtful words erupted inside your head?
What would you do if night after night you sat alone and cried?
What would you do if every day you wish that you had died?

Hope

I’m lost in this world of misery

I don’t know where to go

No one can hear my cries

No one can feel my sorrow

I’m lost in this world of misery

I stand all alone

There is no one to lead the way

No place I can call home

I’m lost in this world of misery

There is blood everywhere I go

Hatred in every vein

Scarcely any love to show

I’m lost in this world of misery

Crushed underneath the weight

There is no one to make a change

None to realize it isn’t too late

I’m lost in this world of misery

Inside my own soul I’m stuck

There is no one to help me

My hopes are against my luck

I’m lost in this world of misery

Stranded on this lonely path

Amongst the fellow mortals

Suffering the deadly wrath

I’m lost in this world of misery

Isn’t there a way to escape ?

Will no light shine on me again ?

Won’t things take a proper shape ?

I’m lost in this world of misery

I’m clinging to a single hope

The almighty force above can help me

And can teach me how to cope.

To Him I am Air

I am invisible.
To him I am air.
But when I hear his voice,
I begin to giggle.
When he looks at me or I see him,
I feel like we are the only people in the world.
Sadly,
Who I am he knows not.
To him I am nothing.
To him I'm not there.
I am invisible.
To him I am air.
