The official countdown for movie The Golden Compass began with the worldwide trailer debut today at the Ice Rink at Rockefeller Center. Sam Elliott, who stars in the film, hosted the event, leading the countdown to the trailer premier of the new film. Italy, Japan, Germany, Holland and many other countries across the world are conducting special events much like the one at Rockefeller Center. For those who didn't catch the event, no worries, Yahoo.com is debuting the trailer too. New Line Cinema's President and COO of Worldwide Distribution and Marketing Rolf MIttweg says, "The Golden Compass already has a huge fan base around the world, and these events will not only feed off that energy, but also introduce new audiences to the film who may not yet be familiar with the books."Listen for radio promotions supporting this event on five Clear Channel stations in New York. These stations are WKTU-FM ‘The Beat of New York', WHTZ-FM 'Z100, New York's Hit Music Station', WAXQ-FM ‘Q104.3, New York's Classic Rock Station', WLTW-FM ‘New York's 106.7 FM', and WWPR-FM ‘Power 105.1, R&B, Hip Hop & Back in the Day Joints'.
