As the title of the third album from this Dublin indie rock group suggests, Teenager is a collection of songs filled with the joys and sorrows of youth. Released first on July 22 in Ireland, its sound is definitely fitting of summertime, rather than the October date it comes out on the United States.

The whole album is warm and cozy, though. Similar, simple-sounding guitar chords accompany each song, making for good consistency - which is pleasant to listen to, but, ironically, not thrilling. Everything flows smoothly, with some transitions from melody to melody being almost imperceptible.

Together, these eleven tracks have a distinct "road trip" feel. Teenager would be the ideal CD to bring along in the car, and listen to for hours on end, windows down and no worries - reminiscent of youthful lightheartedness.

The title track "Teenager" is likely the standout on the album, with the most nostalgic lyrics, and a distinct essence of teenage years: You remember being beautiful / Regrets, regrets, regrets / Did you take those fleeting glances for granted, for granted, for granted? / ...If I could go back, a teenager again / If I could go back, I'd trip over again / But where would I fall? / And who would break my fall?

Other highlights include "No More Empty Words", which stresses the importance of meaning, not just unfulfilled words and promises; "This Year", providing an innocent and hopeful outlook on the future; and "Should've Known Better", a song of regret and painful memories.

While not astonishing or electrifying, Teenager still invokes a myriad of emotions to experience, and new thoughts to reflect on. It has enough substance to hold interest and a pleasant summer sound to soothe listeners into adolescent nostalgia, or to convince younger audiences to make the most of it.
