From the first track, "Overrated" to the last, "The Un-Finished Song", vocalist Jak Paris displays his refreshing voice alongside equally good instrumentation. Songs like "Alone" and "Happy Now", are the best examples of the band's strong marriage of skills. Not only are these songs a display of the band's knack for powerful collaborations, but also deep and introspective songs full of love, happiness and loneliness. Within the ten tracks, the band emphasizes different components of sound. The song "Losing Faith" is a more serious track with an electronic or techno rock sound. Here, the emphasis on the vocals is lessened, while Paris and fellow guitarist Jason Juadines grab the listener with hook after hook of catchy guitar work. Toward the middle of the album, the fervent energy of the music is turned down a bit in order to create the very meaningful song, "Seasons Change". Lyrics like "It's funny how this life can teach us/ When you find out it's already gone," creates a feeling of nostalgia, telling of torments in retrospect. The final track, "The Un-Finished Song", has the same ballad-like style as "Seasons Change". Paris sings "You make everything seem so complete" toward the end of the incomplete song. As the last few seconds of the song begin to fade into silence, a sudden urge for more arises and soon you find yourself listening to the album all over again. These days, it's not so common to find a rock band that has an extraordinary vocalist. It seems as though people everywhere have settled for mediocre vocal talent, and have focused more on the instrumental work of bands lately. Fortunately, for those of you who enjoy lyrics that you can actually understand (and yes, every single word) then you'll embrace Electric Revolution like a breath of fresh air.
