DVD Features - In the Den with The Librarian's Special Effects Artists
CritiqueThis quirky, fun telefilm aired on TNT in 2006. The DVD release of King Solomon's Mines is sure to be just as popular as its predecessor, Quest for the Spear, sporting the same lovable know-it-all screw-up librarian, Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle). I know what you are thinking - it is a telefilm, how good can it be? The funny thing about television lately - technology has come a long way, writers are good or bad no matter what they are writing for, and there is now a very fine line between the entertainment value of "film" and "tv". Sometimes I prefer telefilms much more than those found at the local theater. Wyle does a great job of combining effortless brilliance and accidental humor. This little DVD is a great entertainer and a fabulous addition for any dramatic adventurer. The one DVD featurette, In the Den with The Librarian's Special Effects Artists, was very informative with regards to how the production was assembled effects and all. I think it would have been a lot more interesting, however, if there had been a few more features on this DVD—interviews with the cast or behind-the-scenes footage perhaps—and you know there had to have been bloopers! You don't need featurettes to make a decision about buying this one though—it is the exactly the kind of telefilm you will want to watch again and again. Hello! Good Site! Thanks you! yzkgpoitkfo
