Critique:

The first disc contains the film, sneak peeks of 28 other Disney things and a blooper reel that is actually quite funny. Disc two has most of the extras in this well-packaged 2-disc DVD set. Mainly, you have a bunch of behind-the-scenes footage about the making of the film, cast and crew interviews, and deleted scenes, capping to just under one hour of piratey goodness.

While some may claim the plot wasn't straightforward in the 2nd or 3rd installments of this production series, I think the third managed to tie things up quite nicely. The second film was more unfinished as it led the way to the finale of Pirates, however, I was quite pleased with the way things came to a close in At World's End. The maelstrom sequence was amazing and well done. Nothing like going to work in a hurricane!

As always, Depp's character is the center piece that makes this concoction of swords, battling marriage ceremonies, born-again pirates and thousands of miniature crabs come together. Him and his peanut.

I for one did not view these films for their immaculate plot integration or clever message to the audience—I went for the clever one-liners made by Captain Jack, the awesome action and the great effects.

As always, the performances by all of the cast were fabulous. No complaints there. This film is a great pick-me-up...and a great Christmas gift for all the pirate-lovers out there!
