What do Madonna, Will Ferrell, George Bush Sr., Angelina Jolie and Cher have in common? How about a charity auction through eBay! These are just a few of the celebrities participating who have signed 25 authentic Afghan Kites. They are helping in the launch of Participant Productions' social action campaign for the highly anticipated film version of The Kite Runner. These are all on auction now at www.ebay.com/kiterunner. The tail of each kite has been personally autographed and by who you may ask? Here's the list:
Along with each signed kite, the winning bidder also receives a "thank you" card signed by the celebrity. The proceeds will go to the Afghanistan Relief Organization (ARO), to help pay for the training of teachers and the construction of rural libraries throughout Afghanistan. The film The Kite Runner opens in select theaters December 14. Did you think the kites were it? Think again. Other items listed on eBay for bidding include a trip to the set of the new James Bond film as a personal guest of director Marc Forster. There is also a private lunch with The Kite Runner author Khaled Hosseini. Not only that, but people have the chance to bid for their names to be included in Hosseini's next book! Mary Adams Urashima, ARO Board Member said, "We are so grateful to The Kite Runner filmmakers and all the celebrities who have contributed to this amazing charity auction, and we especially wish to thank eBay for the support and exposure it will generate."So, check out all the auction for this wonderful event at www.ebay.com/kiterunner and see what the movie is all about at the film's official site.
