In a way, the release of Frasier: The Tenth Season signals the end of an era as it allows the avid Frasier fan to complete their collection, the eleventh and final season having been released on DVD some three years earlier.

Considered by many to be the penultimate season of the show, Season Ten opens with a much-awaited wedding finally taking place (three times) and includes other climactic events,  such as a family medical crisis, a sexual harassment case, questionable paternity and an ultimatum to Frasier to choose between his best friend and his somewhat contemptible love interest.

DVD Features:
  • 4 disc set featuring all 24 episodes from Season 10
  • Full Screen Format

Critique:

Season Ten seems to refocus its concentration on being funny and succeeds in that goal remarkably well. It combines superb acting by its central cast with the sharp wit of its writers into a series of stand-alone episodes that still manage to advance the series toward its actual conclusion, which takes place in the following season.

Much credit goes to the characterization developed throughout the series because it brings the viewers into the show and makes them feel like they are watching not just actors on a set, but their friends and neighbors. Even characters like Maris, who are never actually seen on camera, are so well-developed, you feel you know them.

The set is nicely packaged with a folding DVD case and a protective outer sleeve, but is sadly lacking in the desirable extra features such as cast interviews or blooper segments offered in some DVD collections. The discs are clearly labeled with episode titles and feature easy-to-use on-screen menus for finding your favorites.

Frasier is another member of the long-running TV comedy sitcoms that will stand the test of time—just as enjoyable now as it was when it first aired.
