From the director of Monster's Ball and Finding Neverland comes the long awaited film adaptation of the best-selling novel, "The Kite Runner", by Khaled Hosseini.

In a country full of turmoil, Amir and Hassan are best childhood friends despite their differences in social class. They spend all their time watching movies, reading poems, or flying kites together within the innocence of being children. Amir is the son of a wealthy Afghan businessman and Hassan is the son of their servant.

Looking forward to the annual kite running contest, Amir and Hassan practice as the can only hope to be the winners of the contest. But to their surprise, this day would come to change their lives forever. In the aftermath of a successful kite running contest, with an act of crude violence, comes the definitive moment of their lives.

In an uprising within the country, Amir and his father escape to half way across the globe to sunny San Francisco, yet Hassan and his father had no means but to stay. After some twenty years, Amir receives a phone call that provides the opportunity to redeem his past action by which, "there is a way to be good again."

I am an avid believer that the book is always better than the movie. While both child actors were amazing, I found the rest of the cast less than impressive to convey the profound meaning meant for such a story. If asked, I would definitely recommend the book over the movie.
