comedycentral_flavorflavroast_dvd.jpgIt"s that time of year again! Following Pamela Anderson and William Shatner, someone is going to get roasted! Who"s on the agenda this time? None other then legendary hype man, and Public Enemy superstar, Flavor Flav!

Flavor Flav was born on March 16, 1959. His career took off around 1987. Forming the group Public Enemy with fellow members Chuck D, DJ Terminator X, and Professor Griff, Flavor Flav was suddenly in one of the most influential rap groups in America.

After Public Enemy (and 5 Platinum Albums), Flav went on to other business, such as staring as one of the contestants in The Surreal Life 3. There he formed a special (and slightly creepy) relationship with Brigitte Nielsen. From there, his Reality TV stardom began.

VH1, seeing the possibility for a show, decided to make one. In March of 2005, Strange Love premiered on VH1. A lot of weird stuff happened, but that’s saved for another review. In the end, the relationship with Nielsen ended, and with it, the show too.

Flavor Flav would not let his Reality TV career die so quickly! Or at least VH1 wouldn't. They came to Flav with the idea for a show that most men dare not refuse. Once again, in 2006 Flavor Flav starred in his show Flavor of Love, in which 20 women lived in a house and fought for Flav's affection.

But forget about all that stuff...let's get to the nitty gritty. The Comedy Central Roast of Flavor Flav is grotesque, outlandish, and vile. That being said, it’s hilarious! Famous Celebrities such as Jeff Ross, Snoop Dogg, Jimmy Kimmel and Ice T all showed up to destroy the reputation of Flav…well let’s face it...his reputation wasn’t much to begin with.

Roast master Katt Williams never lets a roaster go on without a quick stab at them. You definitely get what you buy. Non-stop laughs from start to finish, every single Roaster brings there A-Game, comedians and noncomedians alike.

Obviously it is not for the "young of ears", but if you like any of the previous roasts, or most of the programs on Comedy Central, then this DVD is definitely for you.

The special features are, on the other hand, less than stellar. Aside from the Red Carpet interviews, most of the special features clock in at about one or two minutes each. This seems like a cop-out as the DVD's back cover claims there is "Over 40 Minutes of BONUS MATERIALS," though three-fourths of the extras are Red Carpet interviews.

Overall, the DVD is excellent. If you love stand-up, or just love Flavor Flav, this is a must-buy.
