Artist: Mike Doughty
Mike Doughty has done much with his life thus far. Having written poetry, plays and stories, Mike hasn't singled himself out as just another singer. He enjoys writing music, and he's a great solo singer to top it all off. Mike has now released his new album Golden Delicious. When he talks about his previous music releases he says, "My last album, Haughty Melodic, got played on the radio a whole lot, and was on the TV shows Grey's Anatomy and Veronica Mars." That's something to be proud of, and hopefully his new album will get as much, if not more, coverage this go-around. Mike's upbeat melodies and edgy voice give way to a unique blend. I will admit I couldn't take his song "More Bacon than the Pan Can Handle" seriously, and lets hope it wasn't supposed to be. The song "Fort Hood" is catchy and thought provoking. With elections coming up, I took this song to be about that, with lyrics like, "My vote's a bed and a football pool/Five on the red and six on the blue/Wake up, fool, this is no time for a shouting match/I smell blood and there's no blood around." His ability at word-play in all of his lyrics makes Golden Delicious worth hearing.
