Making a good romantic film is pretty hard these days, especially since most of what I have seen lately just rehashes movies with a similar theme.  But, now comes along a very unique film that possesses a strong bond between actors, smart scripting and keen direction, providing a wonderful screen experience.  If you are a true romantic at heart, don’t miss Here and There starring David Thornton and Mirjana Karanovic.

Mother and Child, a Big Slice of Life

Review Info

Actors Annette BeningNaomi WattsKerry WashingtonSamuel L. Jackson
Genre Drama
Touching, graphic and profound, the film Mother and Child delivers a moving and powerful slice of life.  The acting, direction and cinematography all blend into a story that fits with our modern day lives.  The interesting script, although more directed at couples that are childless, should hit home with people who have had to deal with situations where an important decision changed their future.

Get Him to the Greek, Delivers

Review Info

Written By Nicholas StollerJason Segel
Actors Russell BrandJonah HillSean Combs
Genre Comedy
Producer Judd Apatow comes up with another winner with Get Him to the Greek.  The movie is so funny I nearly pulled a stomach muscle.  Directed toward a male audience with a smaller entertainment factor for females, this film makes all the right moves.  It’s funny, gross, unexpected and contagious.  I suggest you gather up your buddies or convince your significant other to join you and let the laughter begin.

Splice Connects

Review Info

Actors Adrien BrodySarah PolleyDelphine Chaneac
Genre DramaSci-FiSuspense
What shows as a creature horror flick in the trailers on TV and in movie theatres for the film Splice, turns out to be more of a suspense-filled, sci-fi drama with disturbing elements.  The movie is actually very good in a curious kind of way. For all you science fiction lovers who enjoy films with a ‘what if’ theme, this has your name written all over it.

Marmaduke, a Dog with Angst

Review Info

Actors Emma StoneOwen WilsonWilliam H. Macy
Genre FamilyComedy
While I’m not a big fan of dog movies, Marmaduke does have some appeal.  The big lanky pouch provides a lot of kiddy laughs as he stumbles, bungles and brightens some cool scenes of his new movie.  Kid friendly, the appeal here comes from the wide assortment of teen dogs, the ability to converse with each other and the situations they find themselves in.  Adults: Don’t look for a lot of belly laughs to cool...

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time a Gamer Treat
Jumping right into action, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time starts its non-stop adventure and it’s mighty good.  Jerry Bruckheimer knows how to produce films, making something out of nothing, and from a cool video game he puts together a filmmaking team that comes up a winner.  If you are a gamer and you like your movies with a lot of excitement, swordplay and chases, you will definitely want to catch this film.

MacGruber, It's the Bomb

Review Info

Actors Val KilmerWill ForteKristen Wiig
Genre ComedyAdventureAction
Taking a small segment from Saturday Night Live and making it into a full-length feature takes a lot of ingenuity, imagination and money, all three of which are accomplished with the very funny MacGruber. The hilarious adult comedy hits the screen with a bang, and provides a very funny hour and 28 minutes of entertainment. The target audience for MacGruber is adult males, and best viewed with a group of them.
