Universal Studios recently opened the new Wizarding World of Harry Poter.   I was one of the lucky few to be at the opening ceremony, where the cast came to “drop the curtain” on the amazing magical theme park dedicated to all the HP fans.

The Trillion-Dollar, Pork-Barrel, Stimulus Plan Print E-mail
Quickies - Politics
Written by Dr. Robert E. Pritchard, Professor of Finance
Thursday, 12 February 2009 10:19

We are experiencing a severe economic turndown, and we urgently need a stimulus plan. But, the plan needs to be very well thought out. We don’t have another trillion dollars to spend if this trillion-dollar stimulus plan is not effective.

The current proposed stimulus plan will result in limited economic stimulus and a lot of spending for questionable pork, exceed the entire cost of the Iraq war, result in tremendous increases in the national debt and set the stage for rampant inflation when the economy starts to grow.

In addition, many of the proposed stimulus plan programs will commit us to long-term social welfare programs. We may need changes in social welfare programs, but such programs require very serious and lengthy deliberation.

Interviews - Set Visit
Written by Kenya Jones
Sunday, 15 November 2009 00:00

landocast3 ACED was lucky enough to be on the set of Law & Order to talk to Jeremy Sisto (Detective Cyrus Lupo), Anthony Anderson (Detective Kevin Bernard) and Alana De La Garza (Assistant DA Connie Rubirosa) about the longest running crime series in the history of television. Law & Order is now in its twentieth season on NBC, and with good reason. The Emmy-winning show has inspired spin-offs equally as popular as the orginal, and practically functions as a Screen Actors Guild Hall of Fame. All in all, it's a pretty good gig. Its stars agree.

On set we got some good laughs, took a trip down memory lane, and learned a thing or two about your favorite cast members while we were there. Find out just what keeps Law & Order going, as well as how the actors feel about being a part of the long, rich history of a drama series that is both ever-evolving and always controversial.

Full Athletic Scholarships Don't Cover the Cost of Attendance Print E-mail
Feature Articles - Education

According to a study by the National College Players Association (NCPA), the findings reveal estimated shortfalls between college athletes' full scholarships and the actual cost of attendance at Division I universities.

"The mythology that college athletes receive a free education in exchange for their athletic labor is a powerful one, fueled in part by a public perception that athletes have an easy path to being admitted into college and a privileged path through school once in," said Ellen Staurowsky, professor and chair of the graduate sport management and media program at Ithaca College.

Quickly becoming the go-to publisher for creator-driven comic books and graphic novels in the fantasy, science fiction and horror genres, they are poised to offer up some serious goods as a result of three extremely smart business moves. Already at the top of their game with popular titles such as Tumor, Awakening, Mouseguard, and The Killer, the new developments first announced at this years' San Diego Comic Con (involving projects stemming from partnerships with some of the biggest names in fantasy and sci-fi) are sure to increase their ever-growing renown.
